Broadcast Support Engineer | Playout, SRT, RTP, Multicast IP, DataMiner | Hyderabad | Work From Office | 24×7 Shifts | Full Time
We are hiring a Broadcast Support Engineer for the technology team of a large scale live streaming platform, based in Hyderabad. You will monitor and support the broadcast infrastructure that delivers live content to millions of viewers worldwide, troubleshoot faults across playout, contribution, multicast IP networking, SRT and RTP transport and encoding, and provide evidence based technical analysis backed by logs and stream data. This is a 24×7 operational environment, so the role runs on a rota with shift work and on call support.
POSITION SNAPSHOT
• Role: Broadcast Support Engineer (broadcast operations and technical support)
• Experience: 5 to 8 years in broadcast support or operations
• Location: Hyderabad, Telangana (Work From Office mandate)
• Working pattern: 24×7, 5 days a week, rota based shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays
• Employment type: Full Time, Permanent
• Compensation: INR 12 to 20 LPA
• Industry: Broadcast, OTT, live streaming and media delivery
• Notice period: Immediate to 60 days preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Broadcast system monitoring
• Monitor critical broadcast and playout systems to ensure service availability and performance
• Track system health, alarms and operational status using DataMiner, Grafana and similar alerting platforms
• Perform alert monitoring, troubleshooting and escalation based on DataMiner alarms and system notifications
• Escalate proactively before issues affect live services or scheduled events
Technical fault resolution
• Act as an escalation point for operations teams on faults affecting broadcast and production systems
• Diagnose complex issues across playout, contribution, multicast IP networking, encoding, SRT and RTP transport streams
• Use Probe Analyser or equivalent stream analysis tools to investigate packet loss, bitrate abnormalities, transport stream errors and signal quality
• Analyse logs, alarms and transport stream evidence to produce detailed root cause findings and technical reports
Incident management
• Respond quickly to incidents, keeping disruption to live output and production workflows to a minimum
• Coordinate with internal engineering teams and operational stakeholders during high priority incidents
• Track, communicate and resolve incidents in line with internal SLAs and support procedures
Preventive maintenance
• Perform regular maintenance and health checks on playout systems and associated production equipment
• Support software updates, hardware upgrades and configuration changes across the broadcast environment
• Document and test all maintenance activity before implementation
• Create, update and manage incident, problem and change records accurately in ITSM systems
Collaboration and communication
• Attend regular reviews with team leaders, senior engineers and operational teams
• Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks and instructional guidance
• Work with cross functional teams to improve system reliability and operational efficiency
Vendor management
• Escalate to vendors when required and coordinate with third party suppliers on equipment, software or service faults
• Track vendor actions and follow up until issues are fully resolved
Documentation and continuous improvement
• Maintain accurate documentation for systems, incident reports, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
• Create and maintain runbooks and SOPs for consistent incident handling and knowledge sharing
• Provide post incident analysis with logs, screenshots and root cause documentation, and take part in RCA discussions
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, monitoring and operational processes
Shift and on call support
• Work within a 24×7 shift based support environment including nights, weekends and public holidays
• Provide on call support during major live events, critical incidents or scheduled maintenance windows
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Experience supporting broadcast technology environments including playout, contribution, multicast IP networking, SRT and RTP transport protocols, and video and audio encoding
• Strong troubleshooting and fault finding skills with the ability to perform Root Cause Analysis
• Hands on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as DataMiner, Grafana or equivalent
• Understanding of broadcast workflows and operational processes in a live or 24×7 environment
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple incidents simultaneously under pressure
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working in shift based or 24×7 operational support roles
PREFERRED / BONUS SKILLS
• Knowledge of broadcast infrastructure end to end
• Experience with live event broadcasting or media delivery environments
• ITSM tooling such as HALO, Jira, Confluence or equivalents
• Working knowledge of Linux systems, networking fundamentals and packet analysis
• Probe Analyser, Wireshark or similar troubleshooting tools
• Exposure to vendor management and third party technical support processes
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Broadcast Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical field
• Equivalent practical experience in broadcast operations or support environments is also considered

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Someone who gets calmer, not louder, when a feed drops mid event. If you can read a transport stream, tell packet loss from an encoder fault, and write the RCA afterwards so it does not happen again, you will do well here. Comfort with night and weekend shifts is essential, not optional.
