We are hiring a Senior Roku Engineer to build and optimise the Roku application for a large scale streaming platform whose services go from thousands to millions of concurrent users within minutes. You will design and ship features in BrightScript on the Roku SceneGraph framework, tune UI and player workflows for performance across a wide range of Roku devices, and integrate the client with a large scale backend ecosystem. You will work directly with Product, UX, Video and Backend Engineering, and help raise the engineering bar through code review, architecture input and mentoring.

POSITION SNAPSHOT

• Role: Senior Roku Engineer (client side, BrightScript and SceneGraph)

• Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands on Roku development, within a broader engineering career

• Location: Hyderabad, Telangana (Work From Office)

• Employment type: Full Time, Permanent

• Compensation: INR 20 to 35 LPA

• Industry: OTT, video streaming, connected TV and digital media

• Notice period: Immediate to 60 days preferred

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, prototype and implement new Roku application features using BrightScript and the Roku SceneGraph framework

• Develop highly scalable UI and player workflows optimised for performance across a wide range of Roku devices

• Integrate Roku client features with large scale platform APIs

• Review code, contribute to architectural decisions and hold high engineering standards across the application

• Collaborate with backend, video and product teams to define and deliver cross platform solutions

• Investigate new technologies, workflows and tools to improve performance, developer productivity and user experience

• Drive performance and non functional requirement improvements across the app

• Mentor teammates and help raise engineering best practices across the team

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

• 1 to 3 years of Roku development experience, minimum 1 year hands on

• Deep expertise in BrightScript and Roku SceneGraph, with a portfolio of production grade Roku applications

• Solid understanding of front end engineering principles, UI and UX best practices, application performance optimisation and debugging

• Hands on experience with HLS, MPEG DASH and video playback workflows, preferably using Roku’s Video node

• Strong problem solving skills and an analytical mindset

• Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder interaction skills

PREFERRED / BONUS SKILLS

• Cast Application Framework (CAF) or other multi platform casting technologies

• DRM concepts and secure playback on connected TV devices

• Experience across other connected TV platforms such as Android TV, tvOS, Tizen or webOS

• Familiarity with analytics, crash reporting and A/B testing on TV apps

PREFERRED INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

• OTT, video streaming or connected TV products

• Any consumer platform where traffic scales from thousands to millions within minutes

SOFT SKILLS

• Comfortable owning a feature end to end, from prototype to production

• Mentoring instinct and willingness to raise the standard around you

• Clear communication with product, design and backend counterparts

• Curiosity about new tooling and a bias towards measurable improvement
